How much Sea Moss can I take?
The commonly recommended dosage of sea moss ranges from 1 to 2 tablespoons daily. Dr. Sebi often remarked, 'You can't take too much sea moss.' For those beginning to use sea moss, it's important to note that your body may respond to the influx of pure nutrients. Therefore, start with 1 tablespoon and incrementally adjust your dosage based on your body's reaction.
What is the Shelf life?
The shelf life of a jar is approximately 3-4 weeks. Keep in mind that this all-natural product contains no preservatives or additives, so its shelf life will be similar to that of any other fruit or vegetable in your refrigerator.
To maximize the use of your jar and avoid concerns about spoilage, it is important and recommended to consume your sea moss daily.
This practice ensures you benefit fully from your jar, as the advantages of sea moss are best realized with daily consumption.
Can I take Sea Moss while pregnant?
Sea Moss is beneficial for expecting mothers. Babies need most of the vitamins, nutrients, and minerals that an expecting mother consumes.
Incorporating Sea Moss into your diet can ensure that you receive an optimal amount of these essential nutrients, so that the mother isn't depleted after the unborn child takes its share of the food's benefits.
Sea moss does not naturally contain folic acid. Instead, it contains folate, which is the natural form of vitamin B9. Folate is crucial during pregnancy because it supports healthy fetal development, particularly in the early stages when the neural tube is forming.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the difference:
- Folate: Naturally occurring vitamin B9 found in foods like leafy greens, beans, and, to a smaller extent, sea moss.
- Folic Acid: A synthetic form of vitamin B9 found in supplements and fortified foods.
Folate is essential in pregnancy for the following reasons:
- Prevents Neural Tube Defects: Adequate folate intake reduces the risk of neural tube defects, such as spina bifida.
- Supports DNA Synthesis and Cell Growth: Folate is involved in DNA synthesis and helps with rapid cell division and growth, which is crucial for the developing baby.
- Helps with Red Blood Cell Formation: Folate aids in red blood cell production, helping to prevent anemia.
Can I give Sea Moss to my children?
Indeed, Sea Moss is considered safe for toddlers and can be a beneficial supplement to their diet. It is rich in essential nutrients such as iodine, which supports healthy thyroid function. Additionally, it provides calcium, magnesium, and iron. Sea Moss also serves as a good source of fiber, aiding in digestive regularity for young children.
How do I store my extra Sea Moss jars?
If you buy more than one jar and plan to use them one at a time, we highly recommend storing the unused jars in your freezer. Our glass jars are designed to be freezer-safe.
A jar kept frozen can last up to 6 months without losing its quality. To defrost a jar, you have two options: leave it on your countertop for an hour or two, or transfer the jar from the freezer to the refrigerator, and it will thaw within a couple hours.
Once thawed, the shelf life of the jar begins, giving you a few weeks to enjoy its contents.
